It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of our dedicated staff members and friend, MR. JAMES MARION "BEE" PEMBERTON, 63 of MT. GILEAD, NC who passed on Friday, January 7, 2022 at First Health / Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at Highland Community Center, 131 Hoffman Drive, Mt. Gilead, NC.

Public viewing will be Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m..

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, we ask that you wear a Face Mask or Facial Covering to protect the family and our staff when entering and exiting the funeral home..  Also use the Hand Sanitizer at the Station when entering and exiting the chapel.  Your attention to these requests is greatly appreciated.   Masks are requested at the Funeral.

James Marion "Bee" Pemberton, was born on Saturday, June 14, 1958, to Edna Mae Pemberton Allsbrook, of Mt. Gilead, NC and the late Curtis Steele.  

"Bee" accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church, where he  remained a faithful member until his untimely death.  

He received his formal education from the Montgomery County School System and later obtained his masonry, culinary and carpentry certifications.  Over the years, "Bee" was employed by Fruit of the Loom, Youngs Inc, Capel's Rug and Troy Lumber Company.  Leading up to his death, "Bee" was employed  with Hilltop Angus Farm, McRae's Wood Treating Family and 25+ years with Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead and Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents who raised him. Mr. John Henry and Mrs. Ollie Mae Pemberton; his father, Curtis Steele; two brothers, Lee Edward Pemberton and Ricky Allsbrook; one sister, Nettie Ruth Pemberton and two uncles whom were considered as brothers, Ronald and Leon Pemberton, and ex-wife,  the late Amy LaRose Ingram.

"Bee", as everyone knew him, was a pillar in the community.  He had a passion for working, helping others, and being the life of the party.  "Bee" was known for his cheerfulness and contagious smile that touched everyone he came in contact with.  "Bee" loved to fish, cook, take pictures and dress "casket sharp", as he would say.  Those who visited "Bee's house was always welcomed and made to feel right at home.  He had many titles; attorney, doctor, educator, life coach, iron chef, painter, carpenter, roofer, father figure.  He was just whatever you needed him to be but most of all, a true friend.

Those left to cherish and to honor his memory and legacy are his children; Marion Lee Pemberton of Mt. Gilead, NC, Olivia Chantel Pemberton Long (Josh) of High Point, NC; Genvondia Ann Jackson and Yolanda Ann Jackson, both of Albemarle, NC; step-children, Kimberly Ingram McLaurin (Shea) and Rhonda Avis Drake (Amiyr), all of High Point, NC; his mother, Edna Mae Allsbrook of Mt. Gilead, NC two grandsons, Jaslayvion Jackson of Albemarle, NC and Gabriel Bowden (Lauren); siblings, Phyllis A. Little and David Allsbrook, both of Mt. Gilead, NC, Eric Allsbrook (Cherita) of New London, NC, Gary Allsbrook (Andrea) of Fayetteville, NC, Linda Allsbrook-Atwater (Brian) of Graham, NC, Cathy Allsbrook-Graves (Anthony) and Wayne Allsbrook, all of Durham, NC; aunts. Lorraine Stancil (Rev. Ollie), Mary Helen Alsobrook and Elder Janie Vinson all of Mt. Gilead, NC and Jessie Marie Morrison (Charles) of Candor, NC; niece, Shannon Pemberton of Mt. Gilead, NC; nephews, Damion Ingram of Candor, NC and Corey Pemberton of Morrisville, NC.  He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and the Staff of Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead and Monroe.
