MR. GEORGE LEE EDDIE, JR., 66 of MONROE, NC passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Novant Health / Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Mount Calvary AME Zion Church, 800 LaSalle St.,Monroe, NC. Visitation will be held 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Suncrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering.  And please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held  2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday,March 4, 2022 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

George was born  Friday, July 22, 1955 in Union County, NC to the late George Lee Eddie, Sr. and Ruth Norris Wilson Eddie.  He was a resident of Monroe, NC all of his life and attended Monroe City Schools.  Accepting Christ at an early age, George was a life-long member of Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church in Monroe, NC.  In the church, he was an active member as a Trustee and most recently served as Chairman of the Trustee Board. George loved his church and was always ready and willing to provide assistance in all church activities. He was also a dedicated member of the Hope Masonic Lodge # 32 of Monroe, NC.

George was a diligent worker and was previously employed by Goulsten Technologies and Sam's Club.  Most recently, he was a beloved employee of Lowe's Inc., where many customers and co-workers appreciated his willingness to always lend a helping hand.

Spending time with his family and traveling to attend family events were his passion.  He avidly loved all sports and enjoyed attending both local and professional games as often as possible.  In the past, George was an umpire and referee for more than 30 years serving the Basketball and Baseball  Leagues in Union County.  He provided referee training, uniforms and managed game assignments for a team of local referees.

George was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Brenda Eddie, Phyllis (William) Rivers, Viellia Wilson, Teresa Eddie, Virginia Eddie and Carolyn Eddie.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years Deborah Roebuck Eddie, his sons Sidney (Kulcey) Stafford, Donald Eddie and Clayton Eddie of Monroe, NC, daughters, Ashley (Dervin) Smith of Fayetteville, NC and Aaron Miller of Atlanta, GA.  He will also be missed by his sisters, Tammy (Tris) Thrower of Charlotte, NC, Barbara Price of Fredericksburg, VA and his brother Michael (Annette) Eddie of Monroe, NC.  George also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. 

George leaves his family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances with a legacy of love, caring, kindness and always doing what is right by others.  His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
