Elizabeth Ann (Bennett) McCauley

MRS. ELIZABETH ANN BENNETT MCCAULEY, 85 OF MT. GILEAD, NC, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021  at  Atrium Health / Stanly in Albemarle, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at  St. Luke Church of God, 542 Parkertown Road, MT. Gilead, NC. Mrs. McCauley remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Church prior to the Service. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Deaconess Elizabeth Ann Bennett McCauley (Liz) was born on Saturday, January 11, 1936 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, to the late Frank Bennett and Grace Rush.  Deaconess McCauley departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Deaconess McCauley relocated to New Haven, Connecticut at an early age, where she received her formal education.  Later, she married her husband, Joe Nathan McCauley.  She was a homemaker and reared seven children.  In 1975, her family relocated back to North Carolina.  She became employed at Evans Rest Home in Mt. Gilead for a period of time.

In 1977, she gave her life to Christ and joined St. Luke Holiness Church.  She  began her service to the Lord as an Usher and later became the first Deaconess of St. Luke Holiness Church, where she served as President of the Missionary Department.  Deaconess McCauley's favorite song was "My Soul Loves Jesus".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nathan McCauley; father, Frank Bennett of Wadeville, NC; her mother, Grace Rush Knight; step-father, Charlie Knight and a son of Larry McCauley (Phyllis McCauley).

Elizabeth leaves behind her children, Desiree MCauley Monroe of the home, Mark McCauley of Ellerbe, NC, Bruce McCauley of Conn., Robin McCauley McRae (Rev. Bobby) of Albemarle, NC, Glen McCauley of Durham, NC and Arthur McCauley of Atlanta, GA; four sisters, Virginia McBird of Atlanta, GA, Mary Knight Baldwin (Johnny) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Charlene Little (Kerry) of Haw River, NC and Ava Hammond (Keelon) of Fredricksburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Phyllis McCauley of Mt. Gilead, NC; 10 grandchildren, Marquell McCauley, Christopher McCauley(Taree), Chepelle Tyson, Kenneth McCauley, Kristopher McCauley, Kyeree McCauley, Marvin McCauley (Shannon), Emanuel McCauley (Tia), Nijel Monroe, and Troy Monroe; step-granddaughter, Tanyeal Spencer; 4 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
