Barbara DiBenedetto Obituary

Barbara Miller DiBenedetto departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in New Haven, Connecticut while she was surrounded by her family at home.

Barbara was educated in the New Haven Public School system where she graduated from James Milhouse High School.  She worked for Visiting Nurse Association for many years before moving to Mt. Gilead, North Carolina in 2000, where she lived until she became ill.  Her daughters brought her back to Connecticut in August 2020 to take care of her and be with her grandchildren until the good Lord called her home.

Growing up in Rockview she met her love Vincent DiBenedetto.  and Vinnie married in 1966.  They had four daughters, Dawn, Kim, Tracey and Vinise.  Being a mother was her joy.  She made many friends and became heavily involved in her daughter's activities including the Parent -Teachers Association, West Haven Little League, Gloria Jeans Dance School, Brownies and Girl Scouts and other organizations.  She enjoyed bowling, bingo, the casino and later in life traveling to the islands with her kids and grandchildren.

Barbara was blessed to have close friends that became family, especially the Snipes Family. She was always proud of all her kids and grandchildren's accomplishments, flying from North Carolina to attend every graduation.  She never missed a birthday, always mailing a card and the first one to call them in the morning singing Happy Birthday.

Barbara leaves many the cherish her memories; daughters; Dawn DiBenedetto, Kim DiBenedetto-Rogers (Edgar), Tracey Webb (Kelvin Webb) and Vinise Cook (Jerry Cook) ; 14 grandchildren; Charles DiBenedetto (Brittany), Dominique Galan (Pierre), Monique Conyers, Derek Horner (Felicia), Ivy Conyers, Barbara Conyers, Keveon Galan, Darryn Horner, Edgar Colon (Angel), Ivon Conyers, Samantha Rogers, Tinasia Carey, Justin Cook and Vincent Cook.  13 great-grandchildren; Kyzhon Harris, Aniy Conyers, Skye Hines, Jhionna Conyers, Madyson Mitchell, Amiya Conyers, Ivy Conyers, Isaiah Conyers, Charlie DiBenedetto, Chance Galan, Riley DiBenedetto, Kash Coggins and Amir Galan.  

Barbara also leaves her mother, Emma T. Miller; brother, Levon Miller (Sondra) and sisters, Marlene Pratt (Richard), and Teresa Miller (Chuck), sister-in-love, Joann Miller; special cousins, Dean Turner and Cynthia King (Kevin); special friend, Roberta Snipes; god-daughter, Barbara Joyner-Howard.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent DiBenedetto; grandson, Isaiah Conyers; brother, Marvin Miller; father,  Robert Miller and special cousin, Butch Turner..

Well Done Ma! Your Legacy  will live on forever.....You left your mark.
