Willie Alvin James

MR. WILLIE ALVIN JAMES, 81 of MONROE, NC passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at his home.

A Memorial Service in his honor will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. (Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the service must wear a face mask or facial covering and follow all Social Distancing requirements for the safety of the public). Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC. is in charge of arrangements.

Born Monday, August 7, 1939 in Kershaw, SC to the late Artis and Pearl Blair James. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Beatrice James and Carolyn James.  As Willie grew up in life he became a great lover of Sports as well as becoming a stellar athlete among his peers within the Cherry Neighborhood Community of Charlotte, NC.  He went on to recieive a scholarship from North Carolina A&T State University, which helped to birth the gift of coaching within Willie Alvin James, a gift he used to coach 72 Football Teams, winning numerous City League and Regular Season Football Championships.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Harris James of the home, two sons: Willie Alvin James, Jr. (Sheila) of Atlanta, GA and Christopher Lorenzo James of Monroe, NC and one daughter; Michelle Fletcher of Charlotte, NC, three brothers;  Artisian James, James Austin James and Stevie James and one sister: Patricia James all of Charlotte, NC, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
