MR. WILLIAM EDWARD "Bill" LITTLE, SR., 90 of MT. GILEAD, NC , passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at his home.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, 322 Rosenwald Rd., MT. Gilead, NC, with Military Honors. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic all persons attending the service are required to wear a mask or facial covering for the safety of the public.)
In lieu of food and flowers, you may make monetary donations to his wife, Mrs. Gladys Little. Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead, NC, is serving the Little, McRae and extended families.
William Edward " Bill" Little, Sr. , was born on Wednesday, January 22, 1930, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, to the late Edward Little ad Mary Pemberton Little.
"Bill", as he was fondly called by family and friends, was educated in the Montgomery County School System. "Bill" joined the United States Army in 1951 and served from 1951 -1953 and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Capel's Rug Mill in Troy, NC.
"Bill" confessed Christ at an early age and attended St. Stephen's AME Church. After marrying the love of his life, Gladys McRae, he joined Mt. Airy AME Zion Church. He was an original member of the Mt. Airy Gospel Singers.
"Bill" loved to hunt and sing. He was a true man of God who never waivered in his faith. He will always be loved and missed dearly.
"Bill" wwas united in holy matrimony to his wife of 68 years, Gladys McRae Little on November 6, 1951, and to this union five children were born. One son, William Edward "Chill" Little, Jr., preceded him in death.
"Bill" leaves loving and fond memories to his loving and devoted wife, Gladys M. Little of the home; sons, Tony A. Little (Flora) of Savannah, GA, Roger Little (Jackie) of Charleston, SC, and Bruce Little of Troy, NC; daughters, Sandra L. Street of Asheboro, NC, Janice L.Tyson and Ola M. Merritt (Isaiah), all of Mt. Gilead, NC; sisters,, Edna Roberts of Dale City, VA, and Jessie Phillips (Clinton) of Monroe, NC; brothers-in-law, Rev. Curtis McRae (Millie) of Oxford, NC, Ralph McRae (Elaine) of Laurel, MD, and Kelly McRae (Janie) of Mt. Gilead, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
