Wendell P. Nixon

MR. WENDELL P. NIXON, 83 of MONROE, NC, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at CHS Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.  A memorial service in his honor will be held 1:00pm Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC.   Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC is in charge.

Born Sunday, August 13, 1933 in Anson County, NC, he was a son of the late Eugene A. Nixon and Fannie Marshall Nixon.  He was a retired Brick Mason.

Mr. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Vinnie Lucille Staton Nixon, two sisters; Matoka Wiley and Elizabeth Nixon; three brothers,  William Nixon, Henry Nixon and John J. Nixon; one grandson; Reginald Chambers.

He is survived by his children; Shirley Allen (Billy), Tressa Quinn (Vernon), Carrie Shaw (Bobby), Tiney Blakeney (Roger) and Catrain Hammonds (Ervin) all of Monroe, NC; three step children, Edna Chambers (Kenneth) and Johnny Staton (Johnnie) both of Monroe, NC and Lee Edward Staton (Louise) of Mount Croghan, SC, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Catherine Nixon of Charlotte, NC,  and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
