Sarah Elizabeth Rakestraw Sowell, 78 of Monroe, NC died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital, Harris Hospice Unit in Charlotte, NC.  Graveside Services will be held 10:00am Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC.

Born July 10, 1934 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Joe and Ethel Foster Rakestraw.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories; her husband, John Edward Sowell, three daughters; Shirley Bess (Charles), Elaine Ware and Annie Horton (Marion) all of Monroe, NC; six sons Willie Allen, Marvin Allen (Regina), Purnell Sowell (Pamela), Mickal Sowell (Tammy), Johnny Sowell (Denise) all of Monroe, NC and Carnell Sowell (Teresa) of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers; Isaiah Rakestraw of Darlington, SC and George Rakestraw (Kay) of Morganton, NC; two sisters; Carrie Mae Winchester of Monroe, NC and Leola Avery (James) of Morganton, NC; 14 Grandchildren and a host of Great-grandchldren, Nieces,Nephews and Freinds.
