Robert Marcus Dumas, 79, of 2638 NC Hwy 109 S., Mt. Gilead, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at West Montgomery High School Auditorium, Mt. Gilead, with burial in the McAuley Memorial Gardens, Mt. Gilead.
"Jimbo", as he was affectionately called, was a Montgomery County native, a son of the late Ed and Channie Bell Stanback Dumas. He was a graduate of Peabody High School, Troy, attended A&T State University, a U.S. Marine veteran, and a retiree of 21 years of the New York City Department of Correction as a Captain.
" Jimbo" was a member of McAuley Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served on several boards and organizations. He also was a member of the Mason Lodge #21 in Brooklyn, NY and the American Legion Post #358 in Mt. Gilead.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Addie Chambers Dumas; sons, Thaddeus Chambers (Terry) of Bronx, NY, Marcus Dumas (Linda) of Brooklyn, NY, Patrick and Frederick Dumas, both of the home; three sisters, Ella Dumas and Jerelean Goode (Floyd), all of Brooklyn, NY and Eddie Mae Scarborough(Bracy) of Mt. Gilead; two brothers, William " Bill" Dumas ( Ellen) of High Point and Johnnie Ray Dumas(Sandra) of Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren. Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, NC, is in charge of arrangements
