Ona Lee was swept off her feet by a young Harry Redmon and they became parents to Dorothy, Patricia, Hattie, Elvie (Larry), Harriy Jr., and Donald Ray(deceased).  Her only surviving sibling is a brother, Lester Lee, affectionately known as Lee Lester (Magenia).  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas Grier (TG), Alberteen and Ester Lee, her only sister and twin to Lester Lee.

Ona Lee joined Union Springs A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and was an acive member for over 68 years before health issues prevented her from attending.  She served as Class Leader, Stewardess, Wadesboro-Monroe District Representative, and a member of the committee to plan and serve many church dinners.  She often provided advice even after she could no longer actively participate.  She became a dedicated volunteer for the senior and disabled church members, transporting them to doctor's appointments, picking up and delivering food and just being there for whatever needs they had.

As a young woman, she traveled to Chattanooga, Tenneesee to study business at the National School of Business.  She graduated on Wednesday evening, March 28, 1945.  Although  she never worked as a professional  in business, those skills  were evident in all she did.  She spent 17 years  working for Union County Department of Social Services as a cafeteria manager, often helping with special events like the Winchester Alumni Class Reunion banquets.

Upon retirement, she began volunteering for Union County in many capacities; the Christmas Bureau, Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visit Program, Transporter of Youth to various group home locations in the state, Habitat for Humanity and Union County Senior Games.  She was recognized as one of the Nine-Who Care volunteers for the region..

In an article featuring her in the Monroe Enquirer Journal durinf National Volunteer Week, she said, "You know you're helping somebody and that's important, you have something to get up and  look forward to in the mornings."

She leaves to mourn 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Redmon (Ruthie Mae); four sisters-in-law, Laree Redmon, Lois Steele, Sandra Houston, Beatrice Dalton; nieces, nephews, dedicated church members, including her pastor, Reverend Tyrone Floyd, and special friends, Sallie Mayfield and Joan Dunn, who provided special assistance during her nursing home stay.
