Mary Virginia (Litaker) Green

MRS. MARY VIRGINIA LITAKER GREEN, 92 of Mount Gilead, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the home of her son, Dan  A. Green of Mount Gilead, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Mount Zion AME Zion Church, 6748 NC HWY. 73 West, Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Reverend Ronald L. Goss, Pastor, Eulogist.   Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Mount Gilead, NC whom is serving the Green, Litaker, Gaines and extended Families.

Mary Virginia Litaker Green, lovingly called, " Miss Virginia", passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.  She was born on Monday, May 31, 1926, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, to the late John and Katie Gaines Litaker.

She attended the public schools of Montgomery County and was employed by Russell Harvell Hosiery Mill until her retirement.

Miss Virginia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Zion AME Zion Church. where she served as an Usher, until her health began to decline.

She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Stars #30 of the Exway community, Mt. Gilead, NC,

She was united in holy matrimony to John L. Green, who preceded her in death.  She was also predeceased by sons, John Lewis Green and David Green; daughter, Rosemary Green; sisters, Lena Arnold, Helen Young and Ruth Young and a brother, Curtis Litaker.

Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted children; Dan Green (Frances) of the home; Everitt Green (Rita) and Franklin Green of Albemarle, NC; Claude Green(Pamela), Scott Green (Dinah), Calvin Green and Bruno Green, all of Mt. Gilead, NC; brother-in-law, Robert Young of Troy, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
