June 22, 1932 — July 26, 2016

MS. MARY LEE BROWN, 84, of CHARLOTTE, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Novant Health in Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016, at China Grove AME Zion Church, 9401 China Grove Church Rd., Pineville, NC. Reverend David Scott Cunningham, Pastor, will be the eulogist. Quiet Hour will be held 1:00pm to 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC. Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC, is in charge.

Mary was a daughter of the late Collin and Mattie Jowers Brown. She was born on Wednesday, June 22, 1932, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She departed this life to live with Jesus on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.

She attended Mt. Elon United Methodist Church in Jefferson, South Carolina at an early age and later joined China Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Pineville, NC.

Mary later relocated to Queens, New York, where she was employed at Wyekoff Medical Center, in Brooklyn, NY, and she retired as a Dietician and retired after 42 years.

Mary was very outgoing, gregarious, loving and caring. She lived her life to the fullest. She loved traveling, shopping and eating " real nice food ", as she would say. She always called her nieces and nephews her " babies."

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Cleatus, Walter, Ross, Ira, Paul and Pink, and four sisters, Neal, Ethel, Espbert and Blanche.

Mary has a special place in her heart for Pearl and Douglas Richardson, whom she loved dearly. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Those left to cherish and to honor her memory are a host of her loving and devoted nieces and nephews; a very special niece, Cynthia Brown, who was her care giver during her health challenges; one sister-in-law, Lenora Brown; and a special thank you to Reverend Carnell and Sis. Clara Thompson for your generosity and your kindness, to Aunt Mary!
