Lizzie (Chambers) Jones

MRS. LIZZIE CHAMBERS JONES, 87 of MONROE, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at CHS-Union in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Union Chapel Baptist Church, 621 E. Lawyers Rd., Monroe, NC 28110. Interment will follow in the Suncrest Cemetery, 891 Bickett St., Monroe, NC 28112.

A public viewing will be held 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, March 19, 2016,  at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe.

Born on Thursday, April 19, 1928  in Anson County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Adam Howard, Sr.,  and Margie Broadway Chambers.

Lizzie touched the lives of many people with her love and passion for other people. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone she met with love and a smile.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two nieces and two nephews.

Those left to cherish fond memories of such a beautiful and touching life are a loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Mr. Silas Jones; a daughter; Margie Jones Croutch (Ernest) of Monroe, NC;  three grandchildren, Gregory Croutch and Aaron Croutch (Suzzette) of Monroe, NC and Derek Croutch  of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Croutch, Zavia Croutch, Sanai Croutch, Jaron Johnson and Laura Pate; god-grandchildren, Demarcus Heath and D'aja Johnson; two sisters,  Myrtle Kilgo (James) and Margie Mackey (Late Reverend Robert Mackey);  two brothers, William Chambers (Margie Ree) and Sylvester Chambers (Clara);  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends; Michael Blount and Bernadette Blount; (adopted grands),  and special granddaughter-in-law, Dreamer Sowell.
