Joe Murrill Thomas

MR. JOE MURRILL THOMAS, 60 of the Bronx, New York, formerly of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in New York.

Funeral Servcies will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church, 233 Thomasville Church Rd., Mount Gilead, NC.

Military Honors and Interment will be held 2:00pm August 23, 2016, at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.  Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC, is in charge.

He was born on June 18, 1956, in Montgomery County, NC, to the late Reid Horace and Annie Frank Ewing Thomas.

Murrill attended the Public School's of Montgomery County and later joined the United States Army, where he served for several years.

He was a resident of the Bronx, NY, where he passed away on Wednesday,  August 10, 2016.

Those left to cherish loving memories are his children; son, Tavis O'Neil Bowden; three daughters, Natasha Thomas of Mt. Gilead, NC, Shenika Thomas and Brenda Thomas, both of Rockingham, NC; four sisters, Reathel McPhail of Brooklyn, NY, Chucky Leake of Mt. Gilead, NC, Annie Baldwin (Bentley) of Pinehurst, NC, and Charlene Watkins of Biscoe, NC; four brothers, Theodore Thomas of White Plains, NY, Jimmy Thomas (Estelle) of Bronx, NY, Elise Thomas and Timothy Thomas, both of Mt. Gilead, NC, and a host of grandchildren and great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
