JAMES FRANCES KIRKLAND, 63 ,of MONROE, NC passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held 2pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 501 P.E. Bazemore Dr., Monroe, NC. Reverend Larry W. Leake, Pastor, will be the eulogist.

A public viewing will be held 1:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

James Frances Kirkland, was born on May 6, 1953, in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late John Kirkland and Lila Wroten Kirkland.

He was a graduate of Chester High School and served in the United States Army for 2 years. He was an Airbone Ranger. James was an active member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, NC and served in the Music and Layman League Ministries.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Anzer Kirkland, John Kirkland and William Kirkland and one sister, Rudell Adner.

Those left to cherish loving and fond memories to his devoted wife of 15 years, Wanda Kirkland of the home; three sons, James Tillery of Chester, PA, Ponce Cureton of Virginia Beach, VA, and Keith Carelock of Monroe,NC; four daughters, Kinisha Bivens (Terry) of Monroe, NC, Talaina Bowman of Chester, PA, Karen Carelock of Monroe, NC and Nikki Benson (Drexel) of Batesville, Mississippi; two brothers, Thaddeus Kirkland (Suzie) and Alfred Kirkland (Sarah) all of Chester, PA; one sister, Karen Slim of Chester, PA; one sister-in-law, Ingrid Medley of Monroe, NC; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
