Howard Lesley Leake, Jr.

MR. HOWARD LESLEY LEAKE, JR.,  56 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at CHS-Main in Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Mount Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, Pee Dee Community, 6748 NC Hwy. 73 East,  Mount Gilead, NC, of which he was a member. Military Honors and Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family visitation will be held 11:30 am to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the church.  A public viewing will be held 12:00 noon to 7:00pm Friday, October 7, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Giilead, NC.

He was born on Thursday, June 2, 1960, in Montgomery County, North Carolina to Howard Lester Leake, Sr., and Mattie Louise Butler Leake.

"Les and Stump", as he was fondly called by family and friends,  was a 1978 graduate of West Montgomery High School and was a United States Army veteran.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves cherished memories to one brother, Thaddeus Leake of Mt. Gilead, NC; five sisters, Sue Leach (Jerry) of Clemmons, NC; Phyllis Tyson of Albemarle, NC; Patricia James (Minister Jerome) of Winston-Salem, NC; Pamela Dumas (Minister Carlos) of Mount Gilead, NC and Gwen Bogan (Joe) of Albemarle, NC, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
