Doris (Lilly) Hinson

MRS. DORIS LILLY HINSON, 95 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Sandy Ridge Assistant Living in Candor, NC.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Mount Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, 6748 NC Highway 73 West, " Pee Dee Community", Mount Gilead, NC 27306, with the Rev. R. L. Goss, Pastor, Eulogist.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be Friday, January 30, 2015, from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount  Gilead, NC.

Doris was born Monday, August 11, 1919 in Richmond County, NC to the late John and Sally Deberry Lilly.  She was a faithful member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, until her health began to fail.  She was a member of the Missionary and Usher Boards and she visited the sick and shut-ins.  Doris was formerly employed at Mount Gilead Elementary School.  She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie L. "C.L." Hinson, a son, Charlie " Shug" Hinson (Rosa), brothers, Herbert, Will, Leon and John ' Johnny Boy" Lilly; two sisters, Dorothy Lilly and Virginia Wilson.

She leaves cherished memories to her children, Mabel Freeman of Mount Gilead, NC, John Hinson (Anita) of Fredricksburg, VA, Jimmy " Larry" Hinson (Susan) of Candor, NC, Deborah Hinson (Larry) of Charlotte, NC and Mike Hinson (Cynthia) of Concord, NC; brother, Frank Lilly of Morganton, NC; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends.
