Sylvester Haywood was born on Wednesday, June 20, 1934, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, to the late Walter "Bud" Haywood and Lillie Tyson Haywood.

" Tibb", as he was fondly called by everyone, attended the public schools of Montgomery County and was employed with CP&L, the Montgomery County School System, Walmart in Biscoe and held various other jobs but his main job was working for the Lord.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Gilead.  He had a love for gospel music and "dancing" for the Lord.

Haywood, Annie Mae Thomas, Hattie Lee Miller; brothers-in-law, Bobby Alsbrook, William Alsbrook, Walter Alsbrook and James Alsbrook; one sister-in-law, Sarah Alsbrook Steed; nieces and nephews.

Gilead, NC; a devoted step-son, Michael S. Nicholson of Mount Gilead, NC (his caregiver); one granddaughter, Jasmine L. Coleman (Omar) and one grandson, Jarrett S.
