MR. BILLY JOE McKINNEY, 46 of CHARLOTTE, NC formerly of WAXHAW, NC passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte, NC. Funeral Services will be held 1pm Monday, February 23, 2015 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9904 Andrew Jackson Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173. His remains will lay in state 1 hour prior to the service at the church prior to the service, Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held 1pm to 6pm Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.
Billy Joe McKinney, was born on July 3, 1968, in Union County, North Carolina, to Elizabeth Davis McKinney and the late Joe Perry McKinney. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in the Carolinas Medical Center-Main- Charlotte, NC.
Billy was a 1986 graduate of Parkwood High School. At an early age, he joined Mount Zion Baptist Church. Most of his career was spent working in construction.
Billy possessed many talents, one of which was drawing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish and to honor his memory are his mother, Elizabeth D. McKinney; two daughters, Shaquanda D. McKinney and Latoria S. McKinney; one grandson, KaMari T. Blake; one sister, Veronica McKinney; two brothers; Timothy McKinney and Richard Rush (Sherri); a special friend, Angela Wallace, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
