I met Tony after I heard remarkable things about him. The times I would see him, he would always have a smile on his face and was so polite. My last memory of him was at a Delta's Ball. He danced like there was no tomorrow, with that huge smile. Family, think of Tony as that cool breeze on a hot summer day that didn't last long, but it made you smile, it was so refreshen, and it made you say "Thank you Lord." Tony will be truly missed. May God continue to cradle you and keep you.

I graduated from MHS with John. What a funny, kind, caring guy. I will miss hearing about him through my mom who saw him often when taking and picking up her drycleaning. I know Monroe will miss such an outstanding leader in the community. Love and sorrow to John's family. My thoughts are with you all!

John usually sat at the same table I do at the Monroe Rotary every Tuesday. One Tuesday, John was telling us about a problem he was having as a member of the Union County School Board. Trying to kid with him I asked, Why in the world would you want to serve in such a thankless job? He looked up with a big grin and said nothing for a few seconds. Then the smile went away, and he said, "Because I really care about these children and their education!"

John was a man that truly made difference wherever he served. As a family, I know this is very painful. Please know that there are many of us praying for your family.

My heart goes out to the family of the late Tony Parker, may your days ahead be filled with all the loving memories you may have of him. I will always remember his smile as I walked in the cleaners, he would immediately start writing, that goes to show he was definitely a people person.May the Lord bless and comfort his wife & children at all times.

I, along with many, many others, will miss John! He was always so cordial, kind and caring. I could always depend on getting a broad smile from him anytime I saw him, whether it was at the dry cleaners or at a political event. We had recently enjoyed talking about the Rosenwald School beside Antioch Church, known as Laney School, and a possible restoration project. If anyone reading this has an interest in the Laney Rosenwald School, please let me know It is one of the last standing Rosenwald Schools in the state.
